HISTORY

Established in 1979 by co-owners Christopher and Matthew Masiero as a roadside stand featuring the freshest, highest quality fruits and vegetables, Guido’s found a receptive audience. Originally in Lenox and soon after occupying the old Quarry restaurant site on South Street in Pittsfield, the business flourished, and the Masieros sought to expand the offerings of their market. A new store was built in Pittsfield in 1983, where the Masieros were joined by like-minded tenants - top-notch food vendors who would offer Guido’s customers the very best: the finest cuts of meat and fish, just-made pasta, fresh-cut flowers and the best prepared foods you can find. Our extensive organic fruit, produce and natural foods selection is not to be missed.

Prompted by customer requests to broaden their services, the Masieros began searching for a location for a southern Berkshire store in 1992 - an effort that culminated in the spring of 1995 with the opening of the second Guido’s on South Main Street in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Guido’s Fresh Marketplace strives to provide their customers with a grocery shopping experience not often found today - one they enjoy! Our markets are meticulously maintained and all departments are personally overseen by their owners. In our stores you will consistently find the very freshest products of uncompromising quality. Daily trips across Massachusetts to the New England Produce Center, allow Matthew Masiero to put twenty years of buying experience to work for you.
